Solutions for every environment

Storage Lockers for Every Environment

No single locker design can meet every environment's demands. A school corridor locker takes daily physical punishment from hundreds of students. A hospital staff changing room demands independently verified hygiene performance. A corporate office wants clean lines and quiet operation. A factory demands steel that shrugs off heat, grime, and the occasional forklift vibration in the vicinity.

Probe Lockers Ltd is the UK’s leading distributor of Probe manufactured products — a range of storage lockers built in Britain since 1960 and specified by schools, NHS trusts, factories, gyms, offices, and public sector organisations across the country. Every locker in the range is manufactured to BS 4680:1996 ‘Standard Duty’, fire tested to EN 13501-1:2007 +A1:2009, and finished as standard with ActiveCoat — Probe’s patent-protected anti-bacterial powder coating, independently tested and verified against MRSA and E.coli.

Whether you are specifying storage lockers for a new build, replacing an ageing installation, or equipping a single changing room, the right solution is in this range.

Why Facilities Managers Specify Probe Storage Lockers

British Manufacturing Since 1960

Probe storage lockers are manufactured in the UK under ISO quality management systems. For facilities managers comparing lockers for sale, over 60 years in production means the tolerances are consistent, the steel specification is proven, and the supply chain is domestic, which keeps lead times shorter than import-dependent alternatives. All products are manufactured to order.

ActiveCoat Anti-Bacterial Protection — Standard, Not Optional

Every painted steel component in the Probe range leaves the factory coated with ActiveCoat: a hard-wearing, patent-protected powder coating containing elemental silver ionically bonded into a bio-compatible Zeolite ceramic. It actively impedes bacteria, mould, fungi, and algae, and has been independently laboratory-tested against MRSA and E.coli. It is applied as standard across the entire range — not an upgrade, not an option, not an extra line on the quote.

7-Year Manufacturer's Warranty

A 7-year warranty is a meaningful commitment. It reduces whole-life cost calculations for facilities teams managing long-term installations and simplifies budgeting for planned replacements. For organisations evaluating lockers for sale, warranty length is often a proxy for long-term product reliability.

Delivery to England, Wales and Scotland

Standard delivery is included on all orders to England, Wales and Scotland mainland addresses, with deliveries made Monday to Friday between 8am and 5pm. Delivery to other destinations — including Northern Ireland, Ireland, and island locations — is available at additional cost; contact us before ordering to confirm the arrangement for your site.

Sites are expected to have clear vehicle access of up to 40ft trailer length at ground floor level and to provide adequate labour or mechanical handling equipment for unloading on arrival. If your site has access restrictions, contact us when placing your order. Timed or nominated delivery date arrangements can be made on request.

Storage Lockers Specified Across Every Sector

Education

From early years classrooms to university campuses. Low-level lockers for younger pupils, standard steel for secondary schools and colleges, and dedicated charging lockers for device-intensive learning environments. When browsing lockers for sale, the ActiveCoat finish makes Probe a sound specification for food technology rooms and science departments where hygiene requirements are above standard.

Healthcare and NHS

Anti-bacterial performance is a specification requirement in clinical environments, not a nice-to-have. ActiveCoat’s independently verified efficacy against MRSA and other pathogens makes Probe storage lockers the trusted choice for hospital changing areas, clinic staff rooms, and care home facilities.

Offices and Workplaces

Hybrid and hot-desk working has increased demand for personal storage lockers that give employees a secure, private space. Steel and laminate door options suit different interior standards, from industrial-feel co-working to corporate reception.

Factories and Industrial Sites

Robust steel construction makes these lockers a practical choice among lockers for sale for demanding industrial environments. PPE storage, workwear management, tool lockers, and standard personal storage are all within the same consistent Probe range.

Sport and Leisure

Dry-area changing rooms at gyms, sports clubs, stadiums, and leisure centres. For wet environments — pool surrounds, shower areas — the dedicated leisure locker range is the appropriate specification.

Public Sector, Emergency Services, and MOD

Probe storage lockers are regularly specified for police stations, fire stations, military facilities, and local authority buildings, where durability, security, and compliance with public sector procurement standards are essential.

Retail

Staff changing rooms, vision panel storage lockers for back-of-house security, and compact personal effects storage for high-turnover team environments.

How to Choose the Right Storage Lockers for Your Project

  1. What environment are they going into? When comparing different lockers for sale, start by identifying the environment they are going into. Dry indoor environments — offices, schools, factories — start with standard steel. Wet or humid environments such as pool surrounds and shower areas need leisure lockers or solid grade laminate. Environments with a premium aesthetic requirement have options including TimberBox, BuzzBox, and ShockBox laminate ranges.
  2. How many people need storage? Count your users, then decide how many compartments per unit suits the space and workflow. One hundred users could mean 100 single-door lockers, 50 two-door units, or 25 four-door units. The answer depends on what each person needs to store and how much floor space is available.
  3. What do they need to store? Full-length clothing and bags: 1-door or 2-door configurations. Workwear to be kept separate from street clothes: Z-door workwear lockers. Small personal items — phones, wallets, keys: 6, 8, or 10-door high-density units. Laptops or tablets: dedicated charging lockers with appropriate power provision.
  4. What lock type suits your operation? Key lock: reliable for permanent user assignments. Combination lock: no keys to lose or audit. Coin-operated: practical for public facilities with temporary users. Digital or electronic: suited to workplaces requiring audit trails or shared-access management.
  5. IMPERIAL or Metric? The IMPERIAL range is the original Probe dimension standard and has reached end of life. It is no longer available as a standard manufactured product but can be accommodated for project orders where matching to an existing IMPERIAL installation is required, subject to minimum order quantities. The Metric range is the current production standard. All products are manufactured to order — contact us for lead times. If you are unsure which range your existing storage lockers are, contact us with the dimensions and we will confirm before you order.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do all Probe lockers come with free delivery?

Standard delivery is included on all orders to England, Wales and Scotland mainland addresses. Delivery to other destinations — including Northern Ireland, Ireland, and island locations — is available at additional cost. Contact us to confirm before ordering if your site is outside the mainland.

What is ActiveCoat and why does it matter?

ActiveCoat is Probe's patent-protected anti-bacterial powder coating. It contains elemental silver bonded into a bio-compatible Zeolite ceramic, which actively inhibits the growth of bacteria, mould, fungi, and algae. It has been independently tested and verified against MRSA and E.coli. It is applied as standard to all painted steel Probe products — not an optional extra, and not a topical treatment that wears off with cleaning.

Are Probe lockers compliant with British Standards?

Yes. Probe storage lockers are manufactured to BS 4680:1996 (Standard Duty Clothes Lockers) and fire tested to EN 13501-1:2007 +A1:2009. The manufacturing facility operates under ISO quality management systems. This compliance applies across the full range of lockers for sale.

Can I order storage lockers in bulk from your range of lockers for sale?

Yes. We handle both small and large-volume orders. Bulk projects benefit from nested unit manufacturing — lockers of the same dimensions share common side panels, reducing cost, delivery volume, and installation time. Contact us for a project quotation.

Can lockers be installed back-to-back or in runs?

Yes, and for larger installations this is the recommended approach. Storage lockers in runs should be fixed side-to-side and either anchored back to a wall or secured back-to-back with an opposing run for stability and compliance with safety requirements.

Do you offer a design and quotation service?

We offer a free design and layout service for larger projects. Send us your floor plan, user numbers, and storage requirements and we will provide a layout recommendation and full quotation.

What is the difference between IMPERIAL and Metric lockers?

IMPERIAL is the original Probe dimension standard; Metric is the current production standard. They differ in external dimensions and internal layout, which means they cannot be mixed within a run without visible dimensional mismatches. If you are extending an existing installation, matching the range already on-site is essential. The IMPERIAL range has reached end of life and is no longer available as a standard manufactured product, but project orders to match existing installations can be accommodated subject to minimum order quantities. All Probe products are manufactured to order — contact us for details and lead times.

Are there minimum order values?

Orders below a minimum net value incur a small handling and delivery surcharge. Contact us for details or to discuss your requirements, whether you’re ordering a single unit or browsing our full range of lockers for sale.
